NJ Layoffs: 2,020 People By Spring

Despite the improving economy, many people in New Jersey will be looking for work very soon. Oyster Creek Nuclear Plan also plans to close.

Job growth has been steady nationwide for 8 years, but New Jersey has a number of companies that will be showing people the door very soon.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988 requires companies with 100 or more employees to provide 60-day advance notifications for plant closings and mass layoffs of employees.

On top of that, a Hunterdon County Walmart is closing its doors. The Walmart on Rt. 22 in Readington Township will be closing later this month, and 149 employees will lose their jobs by April, according to information from NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Read more here...
