Seaside Park Helps Seaside Heights PD In Back-To-Back Hospital Escorts

Seaside Park police helped patrol Seaside Heights Tuesday evening when police needed to escort 2 people in separate incidents, police said.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — Seaside Heights police received an assist Tuesday night from Seaside Park police when two people needing police escorts to the hospital strained Seaside Heights police resources, officials said Wednesday.

Seaside Heights Detective Steve Korman, the department spokesman, said the need arose because the two incidents overlapped.

The first involved a person suffering a mental health crisis, Korman said. Police were able to talk the person into an evaluation at the hospital, and two officers escorted the person to Community Medical Center to get assistance.

Just as the officers were finishing up with that call, Korman said, Seaside Heights police received a call to help with expedited transportation for a 2-year-old who was suffering a medical issue.

Tri-Boro First Aid had responded and had requested medics, along with help to speed the trip to the hospital, he said.

"While officers were at that scene, the sergeant determined the town needed to be additionally covered until units cleared from both calls," Korman said.

"Really just normal calls and two small towns helping each other out," Korman said. He said reports that Lavallette police were involved were mistaken.
