Seaside Park Shooting, Robbery Nets 4-Year Suspended Sentence For 18-Year-Old
Prosecutors sought a 7-year sentence in custody for Michael Jedziniak, 18, of Seaside Park, in the October 2020 robbery and shooting.
SEASIDE PARK, NJ — A Seaside Park 18-year-old has received a four -year suspended sentence in connection with an October 2020 armed robbery and shooting in Seaside Park, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced.
Michael Jedziniak, 18, of Seaside Park, was sentenced Monday by the Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill to the four-year suspended sentence in the custody of the Juvenile Justice Commission, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Jedziniak pleaded guilty on June 8 before Rahill to charges of armed robbery and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the Oct. 27, 2020, shooting in the area of I Street.

As police were talking to witnesses who reported the shooting and robbery, a white BMW pulled up to a marked Seaside Heights Police vehicle and told police one of the passengers was the victim of the shooting, Billhimer said.
The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, treated for injuries, and released, he said.

Jedziniak, who was 17 at the time, was identified as the shooter following an investigation by the Major Crime Unit of the prosecutor's office, the Seaside Park and Seaside Heights police departments and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, BIllhimer said.
He was charged with been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, and arrested by the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team without incident. Jedziniak has been held at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center since his arrest, Billhimer said.
Billhimer said prosecutors were seeking a seven-year sentence of incarceration in the custody of the Juvenile Justice Commission.
In lieu of being imprisoned at a facility operated by the Juvenile Justice Commission as requested by the state, Rahill imposed a term of 18 months' probation under the supervision of the Juvenile Intensive Supervision Program, Billhimer said.
As a condition of his probation, Jedziniak must attend and successfully complete a residential program operated by the Juvenile Justice Commission. Once he successfully completes the Juvenile Intensive Supervision Program, Jedziniak will remain on probation for an additional 18 months and be supervised by the Ocean County Probation Department, Billhimer said.
Billhimer said Assistant Prosecutor Madeline Buczynski handled the case on behalf of the state, and praised the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Regional SWAT Team, Seaside Park Police Department, Seaside Heights Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, for their efforts in connection with the case.
