TOMS RIVER, NJ — A registered sex offender has been arrested on a charge he failed to report his address after moving to Seaside Heights, the Ocean County prosecutor's office announced Monday.

Edward Krogman, 62, was arrested May 8 by Seaside Heights detectives on the charge of failure to register as a sex offender as required under Megan's Law, Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

Megan's Law requires certain sex offenders to register with their local police departments whenever they move and/or change their residential address. Failure to do so is a third-degree crime, the prosecutor's office noted.

In this instance, Krogman moved from his last known address without registering or notifying any law enforcement agencies, the prosecutor's office said. According to the sex offender registry maintained by the New Jersey State Police, Krogman is a Tier 2 sex offender. He was listed as homeless in the database, which says he was convicted in 2000 of "taking indecent liberties with a minor."

Krogman is being held in the Ocean County Jail.
