Should Christie Resign?
VOTE in our poll below: A growing chorus of voices suggests the governor should step down now that he's running for president.

A growing chorus of voices have called on Gov. Christie to resign now that he’s running for president.
New Jersey Education Association President Wendell Steinhauer, in a statement, noted that New Jersey “is a full-time job, and New Jersey residents deserve a full-time governor.”
“We face big problems in this state. Our credit rating is a disaster. Our unemployment rate is high. Our economic growth is slow. Our infrastructure is crumbling. Our pensions are in crisis. Our schools are underfunded,” he said.

“And now our governor has abandoned the job he has to campaign for the job he really wants. New Jersey’s taxpayers deserve better than a part-time governor who collects a full-time salary while he travels the country to advance his own career, and lets taxpayers pick up the tab.”
Christie has said that he will not resign when he announces his presidential bid.

The MoveOn.org website, a liberal fund-raising organization, also has helped put together a petition that’s collected more than 10,000 signatures calling on the governor to quit.
The Quinnipiac University Poll released two months ago says 70 percent of the state’s voters think Christie should resign after announcing his presidential bid.
