
Perhaps, not all respect has been lost for the Toms River South ice hockey program.
Despite another strong regular season, the Indians didn't get the respect many feel they deserved, falling to a nine-seed in the Public 'A' state playoffs -- just a year after the Indians stunned the state of New Jersey in becoming state champions.
Of the six available positions of the Shore 'B' all-divisonal first team, four were filled up by Indians players, who will look to repeat as state champions -- most likely in shocking form once again.

Senior captain Jay Malone was named to the all-division team, as well as being named Most Valuable Player for the division. His linemate, Todd Unger, was named to the first team as well.
On the defensive side of things, Chris Piaggo was placed on the all-divison first team, along with senior goalie Pat Kearny, who had one of his best seasons, despite playing through injuries late in the season.

For Toms River North, Mitch Crenshaw was named to the Shore 'B' second team while sophomore standout Joey Campisano recieved an honorable mention for his impressive play this season.
After knocking off Old Bridge and Park Regional in the first two rounds of the Public 'A' state playoffs, Toms River South had advanced to the quarter-finals, where they will likely take on top-seeded Randolph on Saturday, Mar. 5.
