TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Township Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on its proposed ordinance that would end the sunset provision of the town's cannabis ban.

The council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the township municipal building. It comes during a shortened week of business as the township's offices will be closed Thursday due to Thanksgiving.

That ordinance was introduced two weeks ago; read more here.

The council also is set to introduce an ordinance providing for a land swap related to the redevelopment area where the new Veterans Administration clinic is set to be built. The full agenda is here.

In addition to the council meeting, the town said the Department of Public Works will be closed on Thanksgiving, and there will be no sanitation or recycling collections, and the Recycling Convenience Center will be closed. All regular sanitation and recycling collections after Wednesday are postponed one day, with Friday's sanitation collections being picked up on Saturday. Scheduled bulk pickups for Wednesday (Nov. 24), Thursday, and Friday areas will all be picked up on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Extra Recycling will take place on Wednesday. The Public Works office will be closed Thursday and Friday. The Recycling Convenience Center will be open on Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
