Toms River Police Officer Run Down By Suspect In Drug Probe
The injured officer was taken to the hospital; the suspect was arrested, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Toms River police officer was injured Tuesday night when he was run down by a suspect in a narcotics investigation, police said.
Officers in an undercover investigation were approaching the man in his car when the man accelerated and hit an officer, sending him onto the hood of the car and into the windshield, said Jillian Messina, media specialist for the Toms River Police Department.
The injured officer was taken to Community Medical Center for treatment, she said.

The man was apprehended "and will be charged accordingly," she said. The investigation is ongoing.
