TR South Grad Named Field Hockey National Player of the Year

TCNJ senior earns multiple collegiate sports honors

Toms River South Alumna Alex Okuniewicz, now a senior at the College of New Jersey, garnered top honors for field hockey this season.

The midfielder/defender was named the 2011 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Player of the Year.

That's not the only accolade for the season, though. Okuniewicz also made the All-American First Team, and was named the South Atlantic Region Player of the Year. She was also an All-South Atlantic Region First Team honoree.

In the New Jersey Athletic Conference, Okuniewicz was the 2011 New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and All-NJAC First Team, marking the third straight year she has earned that honor, according to TCNJ.
