Vicari's Bid For NJ Governor Backed By Toms River Republican Club
The longest-serving county commissioner in the state hopes to unseat Gov. Phil Murphy in November.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Ocean County Commissioner Joseph H. Vicari has received the backing of the Toms River Regular Republican Club in his bid to become New Jersey's next governor.
Geri Ambrosio, president of the Toms River Regular Republican Club, confirmed the support in an email to Patch.
"The Toms River Regular Republican Club, without any objections, passed a motion by unanimous vote at last night's meeting to endorse Our Favorite Son Joe Vicari for Governor. Hopefully the rest of the county will do the same," Ambrosio said.

Vicari, who was re-elected to his 14th term on the board of commissioners in November — the longest-serving county commissioner in New Jersey — is a fixture in Ocean County. He was a teacher and administrator in the Brick Township Schools, and later was superintendent of the Berkeley Township School District.
In politics, he served in Toms River on what was the Dover Township Committee from 1980 to 1994. (The township changed its form of government to mayor-council in 2002, and its name to Toms River in 2006.)
