Victim In Fatal Shooting At Toms River Hookah Lounge Identified

The 25-year-old man was from Brick; a Neptune man who was shot remains in critical condition, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Brick Township man has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting at a hookah lounge in Toms River early Saturday.

Nymere Tinsley, 25, of Brick, died early Saturday when he was shot at Top Tier Hookah at 1769 Hooper Ave. in Toms River, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced Thursday afternoon.

The other two men who were shot have been identified as well. Anthony Miller, 29, of Neptune, remains hospitalized and is listed in critical but stable condition, Billhimer said, while Jamal Bland, 24, of Asbury Park, was treated for his injuries and released.

The fatal shooting led to Toms River officials shutting down the business, revoking its certificate of occupancy on Monday, and fining the business owner and property owner $4,500 over multiple zoning and code violations.

The township's quality of life task force had been investigating the lounge after multiple complaints about activities at the business, which had been located in the Anchorage Square shopping center briefly before moving to Silverton Shopping Center, where the shooting happened. Billhimer said the investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing, with investigators from the Major Crime and High Tech Crime units, along with Toms River police and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit working on the case.

Family members held a vigil on Monday evening to demand justice for Tinsley, who they said was a devoted father to his five children, News 12 New Jersey reported.
