Want To Learn CPR? Toms River Fire Dept. Offering Courses

The fire department has scheduled classes but also will hold group training sessions for organizations.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — If you are interested in learning CPR or are part of an organization that wants to offer the training to members, the Toms River Fire Department is hosting training sessions.

The department announced it has training sessions scheduled in February and March at the Fire Training Center, 1780 Church Road, Toms River.

Organizations that want to schedule training sessions can contact the fire department; the training can be held at the organization's location or at the fire training facility.

According to the American Heart Association, nearly 400,000 Americans suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital every year, and almost 90 percent of them die because they do not receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. Effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest, can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.

The scheduled dates are as follows:

  • Saturday, Feb. 11
  • Saturday, Feb. 25
  • Saturday, March 4

There will be two training sessions per day, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Student cost is $40 per person and you can register online for the CPR course.
