Wear Your Helmet, Get A Treat From Toms River Police

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River kids who are out and about and riding their bicycles might find themselves getting pulled over by Toms River police.

But this won't be your typical run in with the po-po:

Children who are caught by a Toms River police officer wearing a bicycle helmet while riding their bike will be rewarded for obeying the law.

The reward for obeying the law is one free soft-serve ice cream cup or cone.

Toms River police will issue a "summons" to children caught following the law.

The summons is redeemable at any of the following participating locations for one free soft serve cup or cone:
