East Coast Performing Academy just came back from nationals. We brought home 13 Overall High Score awards, had two numbers make it to the dance-off, and were presented with a giant banner for the studio. Not a bad week, at all. I have finally gotten most of the glitter, sequins, and feathers out of my purse.
As usual, I took a million pictures of the girls. They make that amazingly easy by being sweet, fun, and a borderline professional flash mob when it comes to breaking into dance in lobbies and such places. As I am sitting down to photo and video edit my night away, the twitter alert goes off - Shizzy has already plotted out next year's routines, props, and music! Away we go!
After a week of down time, the girls are back in the studio, running intensives and auditions for three days before the fall insanity of cheer, soccer, and homework starts up. We had some new faces come to join the old. I already love the new ladies. They're all sweeties.
Next week, the summer classes begin. The kids are looking forward to three days of "dance fix" time! My daughter is already picking out practice outfits. She loves the summer classes. They're the perfect opportunity to spend 3 days trying something out. Hip Hop can seem scary to a ballerina, but summer is just for fun. No recital, no pressure. just some dancing and fun with her favorite people on the planet.
As I reminisce over the 2013 season with my pile of media and editing programs, I can't help but look forward to what this year will bring. I know it's going to come with an amazing soundtrack, some fun times, and a lot of new pictures. I have a feeling we will have some new friends, and some interesting adventures. I can't wait.
