Bloomingdale Police 'Aggressively Pursuing Leads' into Brutal Assault of Barber Shop Owner
Officers distributing flyers on Main Street urging those with information to come forward.
Two days after the apparent assault of a popular barber shop owner, were stopping traffic Sunday in both directions on Main Street, distributing flyers and urging anyone who has any information on the attack to come forward.
Frank Halat, 79, who was with serious head and face injuries on Friday, remained listed in critical condition Sunday morning according to Morristown Memorial Hospital Spokesman Rob Seman.
"We're really reaching out to the public here," Det./Sgt. Steve Caputo said. "We're urging the public to help us in any respect."

Caputo declined to provide any details about whether police have targeted any suspects or what the possible motive was for the assault. However, Caputo said police are "aggressively pursuing leads."
"It's going to be aggressive and it's going to be thorough," Caputo said.

The flyer that police distributed, which is attached to this article, reads:
"The Bloomingdale Police Department is seeking assistance with a crime against one of our business owners. On April 1st 2011 Frank Halat of Franks Barber Shop was the victim of an assault."
The flyer asks anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity, persons or vehicles in the area of Main Street, or anyone who was a customer of the barber shop on Friday morning, to call the Bloomingdale Police Department at 973-838-0158.
All information provided will be kept confidential.
The incident has , who have also offered their thoughts and prayers to Halat, a Pompton Lakes resident, and his family.
On Sunday, the door of Frank's Barber Shop was adorned with drawings by children as well as cards and flowers.
One card read: "Dear Frank...Thank you for your smile & your waves hello to my kids. You are one of the reasons I love my little town. I am so hoping you are feeling well again soon."
