Bloomingdale Police: 79-Year-Old Barber Shop Owner Found Severely Beaten, Critically Injured
Owner of Frank's Barber Shop found unconscious and with life-threatening head injuries.

A customer found the owner of Frank's Barber Shop face down and unresponsive after an apparent assault Friday morning, said.
When police arrived at the shop at 11:22 a.m. they said the owner, Frank Halat, 79, of Pompton Lakes, had what appeared to be life-threatening injuries to his head and face. Halat was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital and listed in critical condition, police said.
UPDATE: Halat remains in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon.

Police are asking anyone with any information or who may have seen suspicious activity, people or vehicles in the area to contact them at 973-838-0158. They are also asking any customers of the barber shop Friday morning to come forward as well.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is conducting the investigation along with Sgt. Steven Caputo of the Bloomingdale Police Department. Sgt. Mark Johnson, Ptl. Marc Loveland, the Passaic County County Sheriff Department C.S.I. and the Riverdale Police Department responded to the scene.
