Police: Stray Pit Bull Bites Bloomingdale Resident
Victim not seriously injured, dog captured by animal control.

Ptl. David Terpstra responded to a report of a person being bitten on the hand by a stray Pit bull Wednesday at Treetop Apartments.
Police said two residents were walking their dogs when a stray dog believed to be a Pit bill attacked their dogs. When one of the residents tried to stop the attack, police said the dog bit them on the hand. The resident was then able to capture the dog and call for help, police said.
Tri Boro First Aid Squad was dispatched to the scene, but the resident declined transportation. Animal Control Officer Lisa Perry also responded to the scene and believed she was familiar with the dog and said she would get in touch with the owner. The dog was transported to the . Sgt. Mark Johnson also assisted at the scene.

Ptl. Steven Smith responded to a Glenwild Lake residence on Wood Place Wednesday where a woman said a bear was not letting her into her house. Police said they had observed the bear taking down a birdfeeder in front of the residence.

Police said the bear eventually moved away from the home on its own and the resident was able to return home safely.
