Halat Remains in Critical Condition Tuesday After Alleged Barber Shop Assault

As of Tuesday morning, police said Halat's condition had not changed.

Bloomingdale Police Chief Joseph Borell said Frank Halat, the barber shop owner who was allegedly assaulted Friday morning, remains in critical condition at Morristown Memorial Hospital Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, Borell said, "There are no further updates on Frank, as far as his medical condition." As of 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Borell said Halat's condition had not changed.

On Friday morning, police responded to a call from the barber shop where a , 79, of Pompton Lakes, face down and unconscious with life-threatening injuries to his face and head. Halat was transported to the hospital, where he has been listed in critical condition since.

Borell said that stopping traffic on Sunday did provide police with new information, though he could not comment on how many leads the department was working on due to the sensitivity of the issue and as not to disrupt the investigation.

"We did have some success and some good interaction yesterday when we did the flyer distribution with the motorists," he said "We're certainly following up with anything and everyting we can."
