Kinnelon Baseball: Colts Game Against Chiefs Ends In Tie

The Colts game against the Hopatcong Chiefs was cut short because of rain, resulting in a 2-2 tie.

The followed up their season opening win with an unusual tie Wednesday. But the Colts will take the outcome after trailing just before the game was called.

IN SHORT

The Colts took the early lead when second basemen Trevor Peden drove in a run with two outs in the bottom of the second. Then, after Hopatcong Head Coach Chris Buglovsky dug into his team following the the completion of the fourth inning, the Chiefs responded with a two-run fifth to take the lead 2-1. The Colts answered right back to tie the game in the bottom half of the fifth, as Junior Brandon Schlette singled home first basemen Jordan Ferraro.

In the top of the sixth with two outs, Hopatcong had two runners on before the game was called due to rain and safety concerns.

COLT OF THE GAME

RJ Gianetti— Inning and a third with three strikeouts.

Giannetti entered the top of the fifth with the bases loaded and just one out. He then proceeded to strike out the next two batters he faced to stop the bleeding after Hopatcong had already scored two runs in the inning.
