Man Enters Burning Home to Retrieve Vehicle
Homeowner said she heard an explosion before seeing truck on fire outside her Kinnelon residence.

The . was called to two fires so far this week, one at a residence on Alize Drive and another at the scene of a truck fire on Walnut Lane where a homeowner said she heard a loud explosion before noticing the truck fully engulfed in flames.
On Saturday, the responded to a call at 1:55 p.m. of a house fire on Alize Drive. When Sgt. Joseph Napoletano and Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg arrived at the scene, they noticed heavy, black smoke coming from the open front door of the home.
Police said one of the residents had gone back into the home while the other two were standing on the street. The homeowner was seen backing his car out of the garage and attempted to go back into the home to retrieve his other vehicle, but was stopped by police.

The fire, which police said started in the finished basement of the home, was put out by the Kinnelon Volunteer Fire Co. with help from the and Boonton Township Fire Departments. and Pompton Lakes First Aid Squad assisted at the scene, though no one was injured, police said. Police are investigating the fire, although they said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
At about 4:58 a.m. on Monday, police responded to a reported truck fire on Walnut Lane.

According to police, the homeowner where the fire was reported said she was awoken by her barking dog and that a short time later, she allegedly heard an explosion and looked out the window to see the truck burning.
Upon arriving at the scene, police said they found a 2009 Ford pickup truck fully engulfed in flames. Kinnelon Volunteer Fire Co. responded to the scene and put out the fire, but police said the truck was “a complete loss.”
Police said the truck is owned by Yannuzzi and Sons Inc., of Hillsborough, and that the fire is being investigated by the Kinnelon Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and Morris County Sheriff’s Department.
