Police Accepting Applications for Junior Police Academy

Children to experience tasks of police officers in week-long academy.

Ever wonder what police do on a daily basis?

Kids ages 11 through 14 will have a special opportunity to find out this summer with the 8th Junior Police Academy.

The week-long program, which will be held from July 18-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the , is open to children from any town, and will allow participants to learn from professionals and get hands-on experience with some of the duties the police and sheriff's department are faced with on a consistent basis.

Students will tour the Morris County Police Academy and Morris County Jail; learn about the Morris County K-9 and mounted police units, as well as the  and Tri-boro First Aid Squad; endure physical training, such as marching and saluting; learn about motor vehicle stops
