Police Arrest Men Near Cambridge Heights on Warrant, Drug Charges

Police said concerned citizen reported suspicious activity.

Two arrests were made near the Cambridge Heights apartment complex Wednesday after police said they followed up on a report from a concerned citizen about suspicious activity on Terrace Avenue.

Daniel Reed, 24, who is reported as homeless, was arrested on a warrant from the Kinnelon Municipal Court for $400 and Matthew Supel, 19, of , was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to , the concerned citizen reported a white vehicle parked alongside the complex with three male occupants exiting the vehicle and entering a wooded area nearby on foot.

Capt. Ciro Chimento, Acting Lt. Michael Moeller and Jarred Schmiedhauser, arrived on the scene and found the vehicle occupied by only Reed. Police soon discovered the other men in the area and said as the investigation continued, they allegedly discovered Supel to be in possession of a smoking device containing marijuana residue.

Supel and Reed were transported to the police station. Supel was released in his own recognizance. Reed was unable to post bail and was turned over to the
