Home Security Camera Helps Catch Alleged Burglar In Cedar Grove
The alleged thief knew the homeowner's son, police said.

A Cedar Grove homeowner’s motion-activated security camera helped police to apprehend an alleged burglar on Wednesday.
According to police, the owner of the Ridge Road home – who was away on vacation - received an alert when the camera was tripped.
The homeowner then called 911 and reported that there was a burglary in progress.

Police said that the camera captured video of a man later identified as John Carluccio, 27, of Bloomfield, who was rummaging through a closet and dressers in the bedroom.
On arrival at the home, police located and detained Carluccio in the home without incident.

An investigation revealed that Carluccio removed an air conditioner on the ground floor of the home to make his entry, police said.
Police are charging that Carluccio - an acquaintance of the homeowner’s adult son - was aware the homeowner was away prior to committing the burglary.
Carluccio was processed on the charge at police headquarters and later released pending a Superior Court Arraignment in Newark on July 16.
