Maybe it was a political statement. Or maybe Willie Maxwell II just couldn't find his checkbook.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Maybe it was a political statement. Or maybe he just couldn’t find his checkbook.
When Paterson-born rap star Fetty Wap showed up Wednesday at his Cedar Grove municipal court hearing to pay $360 worth of traffic fines, he carried fat stacks of bills in his pockets that the musician estimated at about $175,000.
Clad in an all-black sweatsuit and boots, Wap – whose real name is Willie Maxwell II – pleaded guilty to multiple minor traffic infractions, including having tinted windows on his vehicle, and failure to replace lost, destroyed or defaced license plates.

During his court appearance, Maxwell’s lawyer claimed that his client applied for a special permit with the Motor Vehicle Commission to use tinted windows due glaucoma. He reportedly paid his $360 fine and left the building soon afterwards.
Maxwell allegedly told a NorthJersey.com reporter after his court appearance that he was pulled over for “DWB – driving while black.”
