2 Face Heroin, Weapons Charges After Wall Motor Vehicle Stop: Police

A Lakewood man and an Asbury Park woman were arrested late Thursday night, police said.

WALL, NJ -- Two people are facing drug and weapons charges after they were arrested Thursday night after a traffic stop in Wall, police said Friday.

Scimel Jackson, 24, of Lakewood, and Lenasia Banks, 20, of Asbury Park, are both being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold, according to jail records.

The two were in a car on Route 35 when Patrolman Jonathan Gramlich pulled the car over near Wall Church Road for failure to maintain the vehicle’s driver side brake light shortly before midnight, Wall Sgt. Greg Carpino said.

The two were charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, unlawful transportation of a firearm, possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, certain persons not to possess weapons, possession of heroin (60 wax folds), possession of marijuana under 50 grams, intent to distribute heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia, Carpino said.

Jackson was processed on a warrant and Judge Joseph Defino set bail at $98,000 with no 10 percent option. Banks also was processed on a warrant and Defino set her bail at $98,000 with a 10 percent option, Carpino said.
