
June 30, the North Wall 8 Year Old All-Stars faced Howell Central for the
championship of the District 11 tournament in Neptune. Alec Glen was the
starting pitcher and got through the first two innings not allowing any runs.
North Wall got on the board in the bottom of the first with a walk by Casey
Larkin who then stole second base. Micheal Claudio knocked Larkin in with a
single to take a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, North Wall added four
more runs. Jimmy Nappo lead the inning off with a walk, followed by another
walk by Jeff McKenna. Jack Campi then hit a bomb into the outfield to score two
runs and have a stand up double. A walk by Alfredo DiPaola and Max Harrell
loaded the bases. Geoffery Schroeder then hit a single to score two more runs
and give North Wall a 5-0 lead. Howell Central came back in the third with
three runs of their own. Then in the bottom of the third, hits from Jay Bant,
Jimmy Nappo and Jeff McKenna lead to two more runs and a 7-3 lead. Howell
Central added one more run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 7-4.
North Wall added one more run in the bottom of the fourth when Andrew Buono lead
off with a single and later scored in the inning to take an 8-4 lead. Casey
Larkin then came in to pitch and retired the side in order for the 5th and 6th
inning to preserve the win. Congratulations to the team on winning the title
and for the sportsmanship and teamwork they demonstrated throughout the
tournament.
