South Toms River Pedestrian, 84, Struck and Killed In Hit-And-Run

An 84-year-old South Toms River resident was struck and killed Monday in a hit-and-run accident, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

At 5:54 p.m., the victim was struck in the eastbound lane on Dover Road at Chamberlain Street near the 7-Eleven. The victim was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:30pm.

At this time, authorities are looking for any witnesses that may have seen vehicle leaving the area, possibly a small black vehicle with possible damage to its windshield.
