1703 Presbyterian minister Gilbert Tennent, a leading revivalist preacher during the Great Awakening of the 1740s and founding member of the Presbytery of New Brunswick, was born in Ireland.  His brothers John and William were pastors of Monmouth County's "Old Tennent Church"

1933 Famed Polish pianist Ignace Paderewski gave a piano recital of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 10 in the Trenton War Memorial Building and proclaimed the auditorium as the most perfect one he had ever played in.
