Two Hurt In Four-Car Route 35 Crash In Wall: Police
Police say the accident was caused by a driver who ran a red light.

Wall, NJ -- Two people suffered minor injuries in a four-car crash on Route 35 in Wall that caused a road closure and detours on Wednesday morning, Wall Township police said.
Rebecca Hamilton, 52, of Freehold, and a 70-year-old Lakewood woman were both taken to Ocean Medical Center, Brick, by Wall EMS after the incident, Lt. Greg Carpino said.
The crash happened about 9:40 a.m. at the intersection of Route 35 and Old Bridge Road, Carpino said, when a 2010 Kia Soul driven north on Route 35 by Hamilton ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a 2015 Ford Escape driven by the Lakewood woman.

After hitting the Ford Escape, Hamilton's car then veered off and hit a 2015 Chevy Silverado and a 2016 Honda CRV, both of which were stopped in the southbound lanes of Route 35 for the red light at the Old Bridge Road intersection, Carpino said.
The Silverado was driven by a 37-year-old man from Bloomingdale, and the Honda was driven by a 20-year-old man from Kearny, he said. Neither man was injured, he said.

On scene patrol officers were able to free the driver’s side door on Hamilton’s vehicle so that she could exit the vehicle for first aid services, he said.
South Wall Fire responded and assisted with traffic incident management, Carpino said; traffic on Route 35 at the intersection with Old Bridge Road was diverted for about an hour.
Hamilton was issued two motor vehicle summons, he said.
