Volunteer Advocates Needed For Domestic Violence Response Teams

180 Turning Lives Around will be conducting its annual Fall DVRT (Domestic Violence Response Team) 40 hr training course starting October 14th through November 6th, 2014, Tues/Wed/Thurs evenings, 6p-9p.  The DVRT advocates are civilian members of the community trained to work in collaboration with local law enforcement throughout Monmouth County to assist victims of domestic violence at their time of crisis.  The trained volunteer advocates provide emotional support, local resources and options available to victims.  Identities of advocates are kept anonymous.  Requirements are must be 18 yrs of age and older, access to reliable transportation/valid drivers license, submit to a background investigation, fingerprinting and able to complete the mandatory 40 hr training.  Prior knowledge of domestic violence not requried, bi-lingual volunteers also needed.  For more information or an application contact Tina Morgan (732) 264-4360, ext 4272, tinam@180nj.org or visit the web-site: www.180nj.org.  Deadline to submit an application is Sept 5th, 2014.  DVRT services are available 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week at local police departments throughouth Monmouth County.
