WEATHER ALERT: Slippery Conditions Persist This Morning In Wall

Rain overnight has turned the 4 inches of snow on the roads to a slushy mess that includes ice in some spots.

Anyone heading out on the roads this morning should plan to give themselves extra time as the snow that fell Saturday has turned into a slushy, slippery mess throughout Wall and neighboring towns.

The town received about 4 inches of snow, based on reports from neighboring towns listed by the National Weather Service. The timing of the snow and the rain meant than many towns held off on plowing to avoid damaging equipment, meaning the rain turned the snow to an icy, slushy mess.

Rain began about 8 p.m. and fell steadily through the night, but had tapered off to a drizzle by 5:30 a.m. Temperatures are hovering around freezing this morning, but are predicted to reach the mid-40s by early this afternoon before falling again Sunday into Monday. That could turn the roads into an icy mess for the Monday morning commute, depending on how much melts between now and Sunday afternoon.
