For the Fun Fair, the Scouts have also arranged a number of doantions from area busiensses. Fresh, a Basking Ridge cafe, will be donating food trays for the children of the school attending the Fun Fair. Also, donations from local vendors includingĀ Dance Express, Hallmark, Adam's Pet Safari, Target and Wal-Mart will be helping to support the project.
The Scouts spent last year earning required badges and patches by learning about child and baby care, how to become leaders and manage an event, as well as becoming better listeners, friends and communicators. So far in 2011, the Girl Scouts of Troop 789 have held food and toy drives for needy New Jersey children, as well as a special book drive for the children of the Kingās Daughters Day School. The goal was to collect 450 books, or three books per child, but they actually collected more than 1,100 books for the school.
The girls had the opportunity to visit the school in May to drop off the books and to read to the children, an activity enjoyed by all.Ā
The upcoming Fun Fair will be held at KDDS at 502 W. Front St., in Plainfield, from 4 to 6 p.m. on June 16.
