'Memorial' Traffic Light to Begin Operating
Look for flashing lights at Mt. Horeb and King George roads beginning Friday.
Horseshoe Road resident Joe Lakatos lightened the early morning Township Committee meeting Thursday, noting the "county has decided that the 'Malcolm Plager Memorial Traffic Light' is only a decoration and will never be lit."
Lakatos has been a frequent critic of the proliferation of traffic lights in Warren at commitee meetings, while Committeeman Plager defended the decision for a light at the intersection of Mt. Horeb and King George roads.
Unfortunately, Lakatos' kidding didn't hold up for long: Township Administrator Mark Krane said the light was, in fact, going to begin operation Friday. He said for about a week, the light will be flashing yellow, then begin full operation.

Capping the moment of mirth, Deputy Mayor Carolann Garafola promised to invite Lakatos to the "ribbon cutting" for the light.
