Chili Thief Busted For Eating And Fleeing: Police

The chili theft was among two shoplifting incidents reported at Quick Chek in North Plainfield.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — A North Plainfield resident was arrested for shoplifting at Quick Chek on Somerset Street.

On Dec. 30 at 1:41 a.m., an employee of Quick Chek reported Robert Pimentel, 42, of North Plainfield ate a $2.77 bowl of chili and left without paying for it.

Pimentel was processed and released on a summonses.

On Dec. 28 at 10 p.m.: A resident of Fisk Place reported that his boss' vehicle was stolen out of his driveway sometime between 10 p.m. last night and 4:20 a.m. this morning.

On Dec. 29 at 3:13 p.m.: A Quick Chek employee of Somerset Street reported that two black females entered the store and stole $20 worth of items and then fled the store.

On Dec. 26 at 10:36 p.m.: A resident of Fairview Avenue walked into headquarters and reported that his landlord took approximately $1,000 worth of items from him because he owes outstanding rent.

On Dec. 27 at 1:30 a.m.: A victim walked into headquarters to report that he was assaulted by a friend of his which resulted in the victim suffering from a laceration to his left index finger from a knife. Victim refused medical attention and said he would take himself to the hospital.

On Dec. 26 at 11:01 p.m.: Jemal L Boyd Jr., 20, of Plainfield was stopped in the area of Mountain Avenue and Graybar Drive for Careless Driving and Maintenance of Lamps. During the stop Boyd was found with Marijuana in his possession and was arrested. Boyd was transported to headquarters, processed and released on a summonses.
