Four Shoplifting Incidents, 3 Arrested in Watchung

Three shoplifters were arrested last week at Watchung businesses: blotter

WATCHUNG, NJ — Four shoplifting incidents were reported in Watchung and three shoplifters were arrested last week, according to police.

Watchung Police Blotter:

On Oct. 30 at 2:55 p.m.: DSW Shoes reported a shoplifter who fled the store with a pair of shoes. The suspect was described as a white male wearing a flannel shirt who removed the shoes he wore into the store, selected a pair of Nike sneakers from display, placed them on his feet and fled the store. The sneakers were valued at $75.

On Oct. 30 at 7:02 p.m.: Richard Hicks, 18, of Edison was arrested for shoplifting $164.63 worth of merchandise from Walmart on Route 22 West. Hicks placed the items into his backpack and attempted to leave the store without paying but was stopped by Loss Prevention officers. He was transported to headquarters, processed and released pending a court date.

On Oct. 29 at 4:04 p.m.: Aaron Robinson, 20, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting video games worth $351.96 from Walmart on Route 22 West. He was processed and released pending a court date.

On Oct. 29 at 4:04 p.m.: Jason Okwuobi, 18, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting video games worth $406.09 from Walmart on Route 22 West. He was processed and released pending a court date.

On Oct. 28 at 1:48 p.m.: Jose Charris, 30, of Paterson was arrested for having an outstanding warrant out of Hackensack Municipal Court for $328 during a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Blvd. He was processed and released after posting full cash bail. He was also issued for Delaying Traffic and Maintenance of Lamps.

On Oct. 25 at 12:51 p.m.: Michael Allen, 51, of Plainfield was arrested attempting to fraudulently return merchandise worth $228.65 to Home Depot on Route 22 West. He was processed and released on summons.
