Local Fire Department Now Equipped to Save Pets

Local firefighters receive donation of pet oxygen masks from Canine Saves

Pet-loving families can breathe a little easier this month: area firefighters have a new life-saving tool for pets.

The North Plainfield Fire Department has received a donation of three sets of specially designed pet oxygen masks from Canine Company (www.caninecompany.com) for use in rescues involving pets. Each set of masks comes in three sizes to fit many pets – from small mammals like rabbits up through giant-breed dogs-- and connect to the standard oxygen tanks rescue teams carry.

“We know how important pets are to their families,” said Chief William Eaton, “and we are happy to add this rescue tool that will help us save the lives of our citizens’ pets. We appreciate the donation.”

The donation is part of Canine Company’s Canine Saves™ project to provide the pet rescue masks to first responders in the communities where the company’s customers live. Other New Jersey fire departments to receive mask donations in recent weeks include New Providence Volunteer Fire Department and South Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department.

“Our company provides products and services that help pet parents keep their pets healthy, safe and happy at home,” said Renee Coughlin of Canine Company. “We are committed to supporting the community with donations like this that do the same. We look forward to providing masks to other first responders in our communities in the year ahead.”
