North Plainfield Police Will Not Shave For Charity

North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti and officers are participating in No Shave November and collecting donations for St. Jude.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — North Plainfield Police are putting down the razors and going rouge as they participate in “No Shave November,” in support of cancer awareness throughout the month of November.

Officers will forgo shaving and grooming for 30 days in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness. In addition monthly shaving expenses will be donated to a charity.

"No Shave November is devoted to 'growing' cancer awareness; while raising funds to support cancer research, prevention, as well as aiding those who are undergoing treatment," said Chief William Parenti.

"Sadly, we all know a person, family member or friend with this life changing disease. Therefore, we made the decision to waive the department’s grooming policy for November to show support for the initiative as well as evoke conversations surrounding cancer awareness in our community," Chief Parenti said.

Every officer seen in November with facial hair will have made a $50 donation, through the North Plainfield PBA Local 85, with a fundraising goal of $1,000.
