2 Dead After Fire Tears Through Passaic County Home

Flames stretched 30 to 50 feet in the air, neighbors told News12 New Jersey​.

BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — Two women were found dead after a Tuesday morning fire left a Bloomingdale home fully engulfed, authorities said.

Firefighters responded at about 8 a.m. to the Hamburg Turnpike home. Flames stretched 30 to 50 feet in the air, neighbors told News12 New Jersey. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office hasn't publicly identified the deceased as of Wednesday morning.

The incident remains under investigation. The medical examiner, fire marshal and crime scene investigators were on-scene, along with at least a dozen first-responder vehicles, according to NorthJersey.com.

"We would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the families involved in the fire today," the Bloomingdale Police Department said, "and send a sincere thank you to Bloomingdale FD and all the involved FD’s for their hard work today. At this time no further information is available to be released as this is still an active investigation."

Neighbors Dan and Elaine Bush called 911 after seeing thick smoke rising from their neighbor's yard Tuesday morning, CBS New York reported. Dozens of firefighters arrived, but the flames grew stronger with each minute.

"There was a huge crash and, apparently, that's when the back of the house fell out," Dan Bush told CBS News.
