2nd Day Of Threats Puts 7 Paterson Schools On Lock Down Thursday

The schools were locked down after officials discovered was made online, officials said.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Several Paterson public schools were locked down Thursday morning after threats were made against them. It is the second consecutive day multiple Paterson schools were locked down due to such threats.

Six schools started the day Thursday under a shelter in place mode after the threats were discovered Wednesday night, said Paul Brubaker, a Paterson Public Schools spokesman. A shelter in place was put into effect at another school mid-Thursday morning after a threat was made against that school was discovered online.

Students are not permitted to leave school buildings and no outdoor activities will be held at the schools.

Paterson Police, the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department and prosecutor’s office, and the State Police are investigating the threats.

"The safety of our students, our staff and all who come to our schools must always be our top priority," said Superintendent Eileen Shafer.

Fifteen Paterson schools were put in a shelter in place lock down Wednesday after authorities said threats were made against them.
