The men wore masks while using crowbars and sledgehammers during the daytime robberies, officials said.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Six men have been arrested for their role in a series of smash-and-grab jewelry store robberies across several areas, including Passaic County.

According to authorities, several jewelry stores across New Jersey, Staten Island, and New York were robbed by masked, gloved men who used similar tactics to victimize the stores since at least the summer of 2025.

The men would enter the store during operating hours and use crowbars and sledgehammers to break into jewelry cases and take whatever they could from inside, according to officials.

During a robbery in Paterson in May of last year, two of the thieves cut their hands on the broken glass, leaving behind blood to be examined.

Authorities were able to determine that the blood belonged to Shaquan Jones, 24, and Kayron Caldwell, 34, both of Newark, police said.

Investigators found a photo of Caldwell on his cloud storage of him holding a large wad of cash with a bandage on his hand, police said. They also discovered he had done internet searches on wound treatment and butterfly bandages.

Another jewelry store robbery in Wayne this past June resulted in the arrest of three other people. Wyzier Peterson, 28, Corey Boyd, 29, and Terrance Drakeford, 33, all of Paterson, were arrested after robbing Massola Jewelers on June 16, police said.
