Construction On Wayne Dave & Buster's Continues

WAYNE, NJ — Construction work continues on the Dave & Buster's restaurant at the Willowbrook Mall.

Seritage Growth Properties is redeveloping and renovating the Sears building at the mall for $21.1 million. One corner of the Sears building has new windows and a facade.

Dave & Buster's will be located on the second floor. A new restaurant with outdoor seats and retail store will be on the first.

Seritage said last year that the restaurant could open in the fourth quarter of 2017. A representative from Seritage could not immediately be reached for comment. A representative from Dave & Buster's did not return a phone call seeking comment. Sears is open during the renovation.

Mayor Chris Vergano originally announced in August 2016 that the restaurant was coming to Wayne. Dave & Buster’s had previously tried to enter the New Jersey market, but a 1959 law that prohibited businesses from simultaneously holding a liquor license and a license to operate amusement games prevented the move from happening.

A business may hold both permits as long as the facility is at least 20,000 square feet in area and offers at least 100 amusement games. Dave & Buster's easily meets those requirements.

A Dave & Buster's is slated to open in Woodbridge Nov. 13. That restaurant will be in the Sears wing of the Woodbridge Center Mall.

Dave & Buster’s has more than 85 locations across the United States and Canada, including several in New York and Pennsylvania.
