Cop Killed In Wayne Motorcycle Crash Laid To Rest [Video]

Pompton Lakes Police Sgt. Peter Kamper Jr.' funeral was Saturday. He died Wednesday after his motorcycle hit a deer.

WAYNE, NJ — Sgt. Peter Jay Kamper Jr. was buried Saturday, a few days after he was tragically killed when the motorcycle he was driving hit a deer while he was traveling home from working a shift for the Pompton Lakes Police Department.

Dozens of North Jersey police officers participated in Kamper Jr.'s funeral procession and attended his funeral Saturday.

Kamper's brother Michael encouraged those in attendanceto "pass on Pete's gift of helping anyone in need," NorthJersey.com reported.

Although Kamper was tall at 6 feet 7 inches — his frame was matched only by the size of his heart. He ways always willing to help others.

Kamper, a Wayne Hill alumnus, worked for the township Department of Public Works, but then decided to follow in his father's and uncle's footsteps and become a police officer. His father was a Wayne Police officer.

More than $9,000 has been donated onlinehas been donated online fundraiser to help Kamper's family. The family said donations may also be made in his memory to the Special Olympics, an organization Kamper supported.
