Domestic Violence Charge Dismissed Against Mets Reliever Jeurys Familia From Bergen County
BREAKING: Familia had been accused of causing bodily injury to another. He had appeared in an anti-domestic violence ad campaign.
FORT LEE, N.J. — The domestic violence charge filed against New York Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia was dismissed Thursday in municipal court, officials confirmed.
Familia, 27, had been accused of causing "bodily injury to another" after police investigated an incident last month at a Park Avenue apartment.
Police said in the complaint filed against him that Familia caused "bodily injury to another" and that they saw a bruise on the person's right cheek and a scratch on the individual's chest.

Familia lives with his wife, Bianca, and 1-year-old son, Jeurys Jr., The New York Daily News previously reported.
Familia appeared in an anti-domestic violence public service announcement wearing a purple ribbon and saying in Spanish "I am not a fan of domestic violence." The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence sponsored the campaign. The video featuring Famila was quickly taken offline after news of Familia's arrest broke.
