Former Wayne Fire Capt. Killed In Crash Saturday Was 'A Friend' And 'Brother'
Steve Kemmlein, 59, died when his pickup truck was hit by a car head-on in Piscataway, authorities said.

WAYNE, NJ — The township man who was killed in a car crash early Saturday morning was "one of the nicest guys" his colleagues said of him on social media.
Wayne Fire Co. 2 Chief John Gabriel said of Steve Kemmlein: "One of the truly nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of working with. You will be greatly missed, and never forgotten. Although shocked beyond belief, I am proud to have been able to call you my friend."

Kemmlein, 59, died when his pickup truck was hit by a car driven by Darrius Griffin Jr., 25, of Piscataway, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said in a news release. Kimmlein was pronounced dead at the scene following the 4:25 a.m. crash, Carey said.
Others expressed their sympathies to Gabriel and Kemmlein online.
