Majority Of Wayne Public Schools Staff Vaccinated: Superintendent
Superintendent Mark Toback shared that, of those who've responded to an information gathering survey, nearly 90 percent are vaccinated.

WAYNE, NJ — It's been an interesting start to the school year in Wayne Township.
A bus driver shortage has affected not just getting kids to school, but also getting food to the school. But there is at least one positive Superintendent Mark Toback shared in his report during a recent Board of Education meeting.
Gov. Phil Murphy signed an executive order requiring that all pre-school to high school personnel be fully vaccinated by Oct. 18, or undergo COVID-19 testing at least one to two times a week.

"Scientific data shows that vaccination and testing requirements, coupled with strong masking policies, are the best tools for keeping our schools and communities safe for in-person activities," said Murphy, at the time.
Toback shared that, within the district, the percentages of staffers vaccinated is "fairly high."

According to his report, 1,340 staff members have responded to an information gathering survey in the district. More than 100 staffers still need to respond, but Toback said 87 percent of those who already have are vaccinated.
He added that 153 remain unvaccinated. Fourteen staff members have only received the first dose, but are expected to meet the deadline set by the governor.
