Woman Faces Murder Charge In Fatal Stabbing Of Passaic Co. 19-Year-Old: Officials

Neighbors saw the woman "outside her home in bloodied clothing" after the stabbing Wednesday morning, said officials.

HALEDON, NJ — A 21-year-old woman faces a first-degree murder charge after a fatal stabbing Wednesday morning that left a 19-year-old man dead, said Passaic County officials.

Haledon Police responded to a stabbing report at 11:45 a.m. on July 19, at a residence in the area of Lee Avenue and Legion Place, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Haledon Chief of Police Angelo J. Daniele on Thursday.

First responders transported the victim, identified by his initials "A.L.," to St. Joseph's University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Officials said the victim was a Haledon resident.

Officials arrested and charged 21-year-old Jamilette Huranga with murder and weapons charges after an investigation revealed she "was involved in a dispute with A.L. and stabbed A.L. with a knife," said Valdes and Daniele. "She was then seen by witnesses outside her home in bloodied clothing."

Huranga, of Haledon, has been charged with first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, officials said.

Prosecutors filed a motion for pre-trial detention, said Valdes and Daniele.
