📰 News we're reading

• Celebrating Steve Schiffman's 50 Years of Volunteer Coaching at the Wayne PAL (tapinto.net) — Wayne residents can celebrate longtime PAL leader Steve Schiffman, who has spent 50 straight years volunteering as a baseball coach and mentor to generations of local kids. From his own childhood at the Wayne PAL to leading travel teams and serving as executive director, he's focused less on wins and more on fun, memories, and making a lasting impact on Wayne's youth.

• I Want to Mow Your Lawn's Schwartz becomes finalist for Wahl's Benevolent Beards Contest (lawnandlandscape.com) — Wayne's own Brian Schwartz, founder of the nonprofit I Want to Mow Your Lawn, is a national finalist in Wahl's Benevolent Beards Contest, which could bring prize money and a community event here. His group now coordinates over 1,800 volunteers nationwide to provide free lawn care for seniors, veterans, and neighbors in need, and a win could mean a special "Trim and Mow Day" for the local area.
