8 Inches Of Snow Possible In Wayne: See Timeline, Latest Forecast

Wayne is under a winter storm warning Monday night into Tuesday afternoon as the likely "biggest storm of the season to date" approaches.

WAYNE, NJ — Winter weather is not finished with New Jersey, with up to eight inches of snow possible in Wayne and around North Jersey overnight.

Heavy snow and some ice are the major concerns for the morning commute, and Wayne is under a winter storm warning from 6 p.m. Monday until 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The storm has plenty of moisture but also is bringing some warmer air with it, which means areas in central and southern NJ are more likely to see rain.

Forecasters show Wayne has a 50 percent chance of seeing between two and four inches of snow, and a trace of ice measuring up to 0.05 inches, per AccuWeather. The forecast shows a 37 percent chance of getting between four and eight inches of accumulation.

Snow and a wintry mix will fall in the Wayne area beginning at 6 p.m. Monday and continue intermittently into Tuesday, turning into rain and ending at about 9 a.m.

The township canceled trash and recycling collection for Tuesday in anticipation of the storm.

Snow, mainly after 9pm. Low around 32. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. East wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Tuesday
Rain and snow, mainly before 1pm. High near 38. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Tuesday night
Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph.
