Wayne: 4 JFK Elementary Students Test Positive For Coronavirus

The elementary school was closed for in-person learning on Thursday and Friday, but is set to resume their regular hybrid schedule Monday.

WAYNE, NJ — John F. Kennedy Elementary School was closed for in-person learning Thursday and Friday after four students tested positive for the coronavirus, Superintendent Mark Toback said Friday.

Elementary School staff were notified on Thursday morning of the closure, which school administration said wasn't mandated by local or state departments of health.

"The district decided to close our school building and for us to teach remotely Thursday and Friday using an overabundance of caution and to be proactive with everyone's safety," said a school official in an email to staff obtained by Patch.
