WAYNE, NJ — A Wayne doctor's office manager and her boyfriend conspired to fraudulently fill out several prescriptions, police said Tuesday. They used them to obtain about 4,000 Percocet tablets from pharmacies in Totowa and Paterson, according to authorities.

The Wayne Police Special Operations Unit conducted a 17-month investigation, leading to charges March 8 for Luz Valle and Javier Sanchez, both of Paterson. Police did not publicly reveal for which office Valle worked.

The investigation began Oct., 21, 2020, when a Wayne doctor told police he was the victim of ongoing prescription fraud, authorities said. The scheme involved stealing prescription blanks from the doctor and passing the forged prescriptions at multiple pharmacies, according to police.
